STYLE GURU STYLE: Sweet White

It shouldn’t be hard to understand why summers spent on islands greatly differ from summers spent anywhere else. From the beaches to the weather to even the whole going out scene, islands are the perfect locations to spend the hot months of the summer. Now all of these undoubtedly require a certain type of clothing that, trust me, isn’t in any way similar to the way we all usually dress back in our hometowns.

Summers on islands call for sheer clothing, maxi dresses, loose shirts, shorts and pastel hues…lots of pastel hues. I don’t know what exactly takes over me during the warm summer months but for some inexplicable reason, I always find myself completely forgetting about my dark colored clothes and opting for the breezy, light colored pieces that practically scream “island-chic.”

And I guess this isn’t just me. The Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection was filled with sheer, lightweight pieces whose lace details and loose silhouettes are absolutely ideal for the summer weather. The looks portrayed at the show were absolutely breathtaking and instant head-turners (and I don’t really think we need to further discuss how blown away I personally was by this collection).

Feeling greatly inspired by the collection and the way people here in Cyprus dress, I put together a super casual look that I am beyond obsessed with. I wore a simple pair of dark wash denim shorts, a beautiful thin white shirt with lace details and my favorite pair of KORS Michael Kors wedges. As for accessories, I didn’t want to overdo it or retract any attention from the outfit itself, so I wore a few gold jewelry pieces and grabbed my beautiful Marc by Marc Jacobs cross-body bag that accented the outfit and kept its overall informal style.

And there you have it—the perfect casual island-inspired summer look.

Get My Look: 1. Denim shorts. 2. White lace shirt. 3. Wedges.
