STYLE GURU STYLE: Style On a Budget

If you’re anything like me, you love to shop, but hey, we’re college kids; we have a budget! Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing better than filling your online shopping cart full of extravagant garments, knowing we could never afford them, but I find some of my favorite pieces in my local thrift store. I don’t know about you, but I get a sense of joy knowing that I got the most for less.

Karen Walker has always been one of my favorite designers because of the creative ways that she uses denim. As soon as I noticed that she pulled out the denim skirts again in her resort 2016 Collection, I had to try it!

I was definitely shopping on a budget for this one, as my whole outfit only cost me $9! I get it, many people have a hard time shopping from a used clothing store. For those of you that are more comfortable shopping online, Forever 21 is always my go-to! They carry quality clothes, at a very reasonable price. They carry a denim skirt that is almost a replica of mine.

As denim skirts were a fad back in the day, I wanted to go for a more vintage look. I figured a plain shirt, with a tighter fit, would be best. Again, for all you Forever 21 junkies, search their T-shirts for a great deal!

Adding to my vintage look, I added a bolo necklace. For mine, I just went to the store to buy faux suede yarn, to create it myself. If you feel as if you aren’t that creative, no worries; bolo necklaces are sold everywhere!

As Fashionistas, we always want the newest trends. But, never be afraid to check your local thrift stores for vintage pieces for affordable prices.
