STYLE GURU STYLE: Red on the Runway

With the relaxation of summer vacation just settling in, my interest in catching up on all of the best runway shows possible has increased. Recently, I was reviewing the Moschino resort 2017 Collection, which Miranda Kerr headlined on Vogue‘s website. Though Kerr stood out in a fantastic beaded, embroidered and shimmering ensemble, the collection continued to be magnificent (though the first look was my favorite). In contrast, I then found myself reviewing the Narciso Rodriguez resort 2017 Collection with its effortless and enthralling appearance, clean lines, swooping fabrics and neutral palette.

With my new found adoration for both collections, I combined the two looks into a chic two-piece ensemble with vibrant colors, tasteful accents and the same clean appearance I had so adored in Narciso Rodriguez’s collection. While remaining true to my personal style and the collections, this outfit is perfect for cocktail hour, an opening at a gallery or a night out on the town. Additionally, the pieces are all multi-functional, and in my opinion, versatility is a girl’s best friendespecially at this age.

If you are as smitten with the two collections as I was, and if you care to seek some inspiration from my outfit, I am leaving a few recommendations: For a copycat of my outfit, try a simple top with a striking, high-waisted skirt skirt, and a pair of coordinating strappy sandals, and a long, statement necklace. However, if you prefer the concept of the outfit to my personal styling, I’d recommend experimenting with similar pieces with a “twist.” In that case, this is the top for you. For an edgier flair, you can pair that top with this Jil Sander leather A-line skirt, these more neutral-toned shoes, and instead of a necklace, stack on some bracelets for a still-sleek-with-edge rendition of the look.

The key is in a high-waisted skirt, as it keeps the ensemble much more sophisticatedallow the edgy factor to be fully embraced in your top of choice. Any which way this look is worked, the goal is to channel the flow of the Narciso Rogriguez collection while embracing the life and fun of Moschino.

Get My Look: 1. Ivory crop top with cutouts 2. Bright, high-waisted skirt 3. Strappy, heeled sandals
