STYLE GURU STYLE: More Menswear, Please

Saint Laurent’s recent runway show for fall 2015 was incredible. The Saint Laurent woman is always edgy. But this season, the Saint Laurent girl was edgier and more of a bad girl. The show included an amazing mix of dresses, pants and jackets. By incorporating menswear-inspired looks, like this one, Saint Laurent was a stand out show for me. What made me love this look in particular was the sharp lines of the blazer paired with perfectly tailored pants. These pieces aren’t always easy to find but once you do they are staples in your wardrobe.

Today, I decided to try a menswear-inspired piece. This boyfriend-style blazer is has great lines and is so easy to throw over anything from a T-shirt to a silk blouse. I added this blazer to finish off my otherwise all-black and white outfit. Paired with distressed black jeans, a white T-shirt and white ballet flats, this blazer completes the look.

This fall 2015 show inspired me to add menswear-inspired pieces to more outfits. Instead of reaching for a sweater to add a layer, I reach for my blazer. Instantly, this blazer takes my look to the next level. Whether I’m going to dinner with friends or meeting with a professor, there is nothing that screams polished like a blazer.

Get My Look: 1. Distressed black jeans. 2. Perfectly slouchy black boyfriend blazer. 3. Basic white T-shirt.
