STYLE GURU STYLE: Minimalist Vibes

Wow! Where has summer gone? The month of August is already upon us, and in this transition season, I can’t help but notice all the upcoming pre-fall outfits from runway shows, stores and street wear. During this last month of summer, expect to see layers slowly starting to build up with the addition of light sweaters and cardigans. Also, with the pre-fall 2015 runway collections I have also noticed the emergence of boxy silhouettes and the color white that make quite the standout piece because of its fresh and crisp look.

Since fall is just around the corner and the weather is starting to cool down, it wouldn’t be a crime to bring out your sweater every once in awhile. For this look I took a more minimalist approach and took inspiration from the color scheme and form of the M.Patmos resort 2016 collection. This collection included a lot of cozy loungewear and outfit pieces that are both functional in the hot or cold temperatures. For this outfit I went for a dusty rose colored oversized shirt, paired it with a gray cardigan and white platform shoes to resemble the hues similar to those presented in the designer set.

Just like the collection, I have also fallen in love with comfortable oversized shirts and sweaters. I think they are extremely essential during this season because it can be worn by themselves or with the help of a little layering, and you can wear them with nearly any type of footwear such as sneakers or even platform mules like the ones I’m wearing. It can also be dressed up or down depending on the occasion or your mood. Since I live in the state of Washington where the weather isn’t always reliable, I layered this oversized shirt with my favorite knit cardigan just in case it gets a little chilly during the day. To finish the look, I just added some of my go-to silver accessories and purse and I was ready to go!

Get My Look: 1. Any open knit cardigan. 2. An oversized shirt. 3. Any type of open-toe platform shoes.
