STYLE GURU STYLE: Laced Up in Black

It’s been awhile since I’ve found a pair of new shoes I truly love. I’m definitely a boots person during the colder weather but when summer comes around I’m usually caught wearing sandals, Converse or my crocheted TOMS shoes. It’s been awhile since I’ve found a completely new style though. Finding a pair of shoes that are different yet also go with a lot of outfits isn’t easy until I found a new love for lace-up ballet flats. I was on a mission to find myself a pair right away!

The Michael Kors spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection displayed these gorgeous alternative black flats paired with midi skirts of all styles. They’re basically a hybrid of the ballet flat and gladiator sandals and are appropriate for casual wear or office attire. They go with everything, too! From being a comfortable office appropriate flat to dressing up boyfriend jeans, they’re the ideal go-to shoe. The black lace-up flat isn’t your only option though. Many brands have been coming out with numerous styles and colors for these cute shoes. They’re edgy in black and boho in brown, offering two completely different looks.

I really liked the simple appearance of the Michael Kors midi skirts and blouses so I kept that in mind while choosing my outfit. I wore a simple jersey knit shirt in gray and my most comfortable pair of jeans for a casual yet simple pairing that kept with the monochromatic tones. Sticking to the solid colors helped draw the eye down to my shoes while rolling my jeans really showed off the laces. I love the detail on the edges of the lace-up flats and the gold tips on the laces since it made them a little bit different. With this casual look, I kept my accessories pretty minimal with a green and gold bracelet that I love to wear. My statement Skinny Bags purse definitely helped to show off my personal style as well. This is certainly an outfit I’ll be wearing again!
