STYLE GURU STYLE: Gray is the New Black

Think of the color gray like the waffle bar after the jello at an all-you-can-eat buffet. The moment you sell yourself down the river and are pleased to announce that you aren’t, after all, too full for dessert. Gray has proved to be a go-to color for whenever you’re in the mood to look a little more striking than usual. After all, if Kate Moss can pull off head to toe gray on a casual day out, there’s no need to shy away from this beautiful shade.

Giorgio Armani’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection had me itching for some more gray clothing in my life. The structured lines of the pleating and the delicate details of the absolutely stunning hue made me realize how versatile and flattering this color really is. In my outfit today, I took notes on Armani’s laid back way of using the color gray in an understated outfit that still speaks volumes in person. Not only did I fall in love with the collection for its simplicity and its classiness, but I was in awe at just how gray can be a perfect combo of high fashion and cool-casual. The greatest thing about this stupendous tone? It looks incredible with a summer tan. I don’t know about you, but I was desperate for a change from the boring white to bring out my natural glow.

In my ensemble for the day, I took a fitted cutout dress and wrapped myself up in a ridiculously warm scarf that can easily be mistaken for a blanket (that’s how huge and cozy it is). The hat was a last minute addition to channel my inner hipster, along with one of my favorite pair of gray (what else?) booties in my personal collection. These pretty young things caught my eye with the enormous and albeit obnoxious slit right down the middle. I threw on my classic aviator Ray-Bans and checked my lipstick. Hmm, would gray gloss have been too much?

Get My Look: 1. A skin-tight dress. 2. A blanket/scarf. 3. A pair of booties that convince you that love at first sight truly exists.
