STYLE GURU STYLE: Flash Forward to Mom Jeans

A new twist on the dated “mom jean” denim pant is now currently referred to as the high-waisted jean. When indie/festival style was at an all-time high a few years back, every Fashionista out there was rocking her own perfect pair of the high-waisted jeans, which can now be found in any fast fashion retail store. The motive here is to translate this teenage trend into everyday wear for the everyday girl. Pam & Gela know all about taking this trend to that next level with the release of their fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Using this one trendy piece, the collection creates the image of a working girl that should be taken seriously, yet still retains her youthful vibe.

Pam & Gela target the young girl filled with adventure and drive still waiting to garner that sense of integrity and authority. The line speaks for itself as it utilizes tough, harsh pieces with loud, feminine basics. The key, according to the line, is to present the basic look of the jeans alongside outrageous yet cool outerwear or tops.

To recreate an everyday look, I chose to stick to a look that can easily be office-friendly, since I spend most of my time at work. Paired with the ever so classic high-waisted jeans, I chose this polyester, quarter sleeve blouse to add dimension to the floral print. I added a vintage, brown belt to highlight my waist while half of the blouse is tucked in, and some wedges for height because us shorties like to be off the ground as much as possible. Now it’s your turn. Check the details below to recreate your own look.

Get My Look: 1. Your very own “mom jeans.” 2. Wedges. 3. A blouse.
