STYLE GURU STYLE: Denim Days

I have always loved a good denim skirt. Denim skirts are a wardrobe must for any Fashionista. Pair it with your favorite T-shirt and sneakers for a cute, casual look to run errands in or dress it up with a leather jacket and ankle boots for a night out. You can even wear it as a coverup over your bathing suit and be effortlessly “beach-chic.” There is no wrong way to style this classic and versatile piece.

The ’70s are really influencing fashion right now and denim skirts have been all over the 2015 spring/summer runway shows. The Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection was definitely inspiration for this outfit. I love how easily the runway looks can be translated into everyday wear using pieces that are already in your closet. The button-up skirt I am wearing here is very reminiscent of the denim featured in the Chloé show. However, mine is from Topshop, which is much more affordable. It’s available in regular, petite and tall sizes so it is “fit” for any Fashionista. You don’t need to own expensive pieces to have style that looks like a million dollars.

To compliment the vintage look of “that ’70s skirt” as I like to call it, I paired it with a knit crop tank top from Brandy Melville, my very well-loved Keds sneakers, Michael Kors watch, Alex and Ani bracelets, a Rebecca Minkoff handbag and my favorite Ray-Ban Clubmaster sunglasses.

I felt like I went back in time a little when I wore this outfit. Although it is a current and on-trend look, there is certainly a “throwback” element to it. Looking to both the past and the present for fashion inspiration is never a bad idea.

Get My Look: 1. Denim skirt. 2. A knit crop tank top. 3. Any pair of sneakers.
