STYLE GURU STYLE: Crazy Coat Lady

The rainy weather of Florida seems to consume the second half of summer. A raincoat replaces your bathing suit and an umbrella is no longer stuck in the sand, but rather stuck in your hand. Besides the fact that I have grown to enjoy wearing rain jackets, I am a fan of Valentino spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection’s emphasis on coats. Being a native of Florida, it is quite odd to be a lover of outerwear as the weather seems to always force the use of any layering. As the nature of human psychology goes, we love what we can’t have, but in this case I love what I can’t wear. Luckily when the rain comes pouring in the clouds part only to have the fashion gods send down the raincoats.

Upon looking through the highlights of the spring 2015 collections, Valentino’s slideshow seemed to be what I would definitely catch myself wearing, especially during this summer. Simplistic outfits focusing on white tones adorned with detail in fabric, pops of red and coats to layer over were the starring roles in his collection. Let’s not leave behind the lace-up sandals that have taken over the shoe racks this season.

For my outfit, look 45 inspired me from head to toe. I grabbed my favorite army green raincoat, layered it over a crisp white, lightly pleated drop waist romper, tied up brown sandals high on my calves and for flair a raspberry-red side purse. To add hidden details to the look, I decided to ditch any distracting necklaces and opted for chunky earrings and delicate bracelets. The time has finally come when I can bring out the coats and not feel crazy about it.

Get My Look: 1. Green coat. 2. White dress. 3. Lace-up sandals.
