STYLE GURU STYLE: Complementing Curves

American country music singer and songwriter Thomas Rhett said it best in his single “Die A Happy Man,” that there’s nothing more flattering than a red dress: “Baby that red dress brings me to my knees.” It’s a well-known fact in the fashion and retail world, that every woman looks sexy and sleek in any shade of red. When you translate the color of red into an article of clothing, dresses have a way of accentuating a woman’s every curve.

Taking inspiration from the Atelier Versace spring 2016 couture collection, I found a comfortable, yet stunning red romper that highlighted my every curve, to style this dressy look around. Donatella Versace’s collection emphasized a woman’s strength with the help of plunging necklines, cutaways, curvy and skin bearing pieces. I immediately knew that I could find a dress with any of these characteristics at my favorite boutique, Francesca’s. I opted out a dress for a red romper because it carried such a flattering pear-like shape, similar to the silhouettes seen in the Versace couture collection.

Donatella Versace’s designs for this collection demanded our attention, and for this reason, the models were styled with simple ankle strap heels that wouldn’t take away from jaw-dropping pieces. When translating this into my own look, I made use of my black patent ankle strap heels, that I purchased from Macy’s. The collection also placed a significance upon geometric lines and patterns, which inspired my jewelry detail. I paired the look with gold, patterned arrow rings from Forever 21.

So, there you have it. A simple, yet complementing to the body red romper, gold jewelry and a clean black heel will help you to achieve the overall message of the Atelier Versace spring 2016 couture collection.
