STYLE GURU STYLE: Chokers Are Back

Hey, Fashionistas; what’s the hottest trend you’ve been rocking? For me, it’s all about chokers! Chokers have been making a huge hit on the runways and on the streets. Not only chokers, but also the very similar skinny scarfs. I love how the trend is so versatile and can polish up or grunge up a look. This trend definitely gives me a flashback from the ’20s flapper look to the ’90s grunge look. This trend can be found on the runways of the Balmain spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, Chanel fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection and Chloé fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

The runway that inspired my look was from Balmain’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I love how his looks always have a mixed of edginess and sophistication that create a very bold and confident person. He also likes to mix very feminine pieces with more structure jackets to play with proportions. The highlight of a lot of his looks are the bold chokers that add that extra stylish element.

I translated this trend to my own style by paring it with a V-neck dress because it really emphasizes the collarbones. I actually designed the dress and choker that I’m wearing myself! This trend is super modest and brings attention to just a little bit of the collarbone, which can give off a really sexy vibe. V-necks and chokers are one of the greatest fashion combinations.

I also choose to match my choker with my dress to give off a minimalistic and modern look. To add interest in my outfit, I wore my white grid socks and all white mid-top Jordan ones. I top the look off with a my black leather jacket to add constant and edginess, plus to keep warm throughout the day.

Get My Look: 1. White V-neck dress. 2. Grid socks. 3. Leather jacket.
