STYLE GURU STYLE: Brush Your Shoulders Off

I have been absolutely obsessed with the off-the-shoulder top trend ever since I saw this look in Rosetta Getty’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The whole line is inspired by dance, the collection was unveiled in a ballet studio and the clothes were all designed with fluid silhouettes that are perfect for movement.

I loved the idea of Getty’s flowy and beautiful collection, and decided to make it my own in this look. Her line incorporated a lot of white, navy and black, and I was able to use some pieces I already had in my wardrobe to create this comfortable summer look that’s also perfect for class or an internship if your office is a bit more casual!

The statement piece in my outfit is this white off-the-shoulder top. Though it has long sleeves, its light material is perfect for the hot weather we’ve been having in New York. My flowy blue shorts are super comfortable for running around doing errands or sightseeing on vacation, and my white criss cross sandals were one of my favorite trends last summer – I’m so happy they’re back for this season. I kept my accessories minimal and just went for a chunky gold necklace and threw some essentials in a cross-body bag.

I styled the top for daytime in this look, but it is a very versatile piece and could easily be dressed up for a night out with a pair of high-waisted black jeans and heels. I have been looking at the fall runway shows and I’m so happy that this trend has seemed to carry over into the fall and winter collections!
