It is no surprise by now that bohemian, ’70s-esque garb is making a comeback this season. Whether you’re a fringe fanatic, leather lover or simply fancy the flared look, fall will usher in the cool, laid back styles of decades past.
Anticipating the plummeting temperatures that await us East Coasters, BCBGMAXAZRIA took a thermal approach to boho bliss in its 2015 fall ready-to-wear collection. While I understand the plight of single digit frigidness, I adopted a more lightweight look as I hold onto these last few months of summer heat.
For this look, I wore a simple white tank top and high-waisted, distressed shorts for the base of my ensemble. To achieve any great bohemian look, it is best to start with a clean canvas and build upon it with unique accessories and statement pieces. First, I added a long cardigan for ultimate flow (it also is replete with moderate slits, creating a cool paneled effect). I love, love, love this piece and am sure that BCBG’s Lubov Azria would agree with me there, as many were seen throughout his own collection. Opting for a cardigan with a grainy color, versus one of the solid-colored variety, gives dimension and detail to my look. Adding a two-tiered necklace to the mix contributed the hardware I was yearning for to complete the aesthetic.
I kept my hair/makeup natural in keeping with the theme, but I decided to play around with texture a bit. A high, messy bun allowed the ensemble to really shine (I have a lot of wavy, unruly hair that typically acts as an entity of its own) and a deep, berry-colored lipstick played up the hue of the cardigan.
