STYLE GURU BIO: Trace Ferguson

Hi all! I’m Trace and I’m excited to say that I’m back for my second semester as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista! I am an advertising major and Japanese minor at the University of Florida.

Although my sporty and edgy style remains my go-to look, as the new year begins one of my resolutions encompasses the world of fashion. Normally I keep my clothing color palette full of neutrals, but I think I’ll make a point of buying more colorful staple pieces to brighten my wardrobe. Along with appropriating the different styles of the ’40s and ’50s to make them modern like I did with this look.

I’ve always thought that the looks of the ’40s encompassed an element of class, sophistication and fun. I tried my best to showcase this baby blue floral dress with a bustier cut. I paired the look with some beige oxfords and classic Tiffany & Co. jewelry. To complete the look I winged my eyeliner and styled my hair in some victory rolls. I feel like a retro look is always a refreshing break from today’s looks.

One of the good things about being a Floridian is the fact that I can wear my summer attire all year round, even when it’s “cold” out, I just throw a coat over my crop top and voila, I’m good to go. I hope to showcase some coats or sweaters in at least one of my posts this spring semester, but I’m not making any promises. It all depends on the weather in “The Swamp.”

Cheers to a new year and new semester in style! I have a fashionable feeling about 2016.
