STYLE GURU BIO: Taylor Knox

Hello fellow fashion lovers! My name is Taylor Knox, and I am so excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista’s Style Guru team. I am a third year undergraduate student at the University of Minnesota, pursuing a degree in visual communications with a minor in fashion studies. I am also currently enrolled in a one-semester online program at Parson’s School of Design through The New School.

I have had a passion for fashion throughout my entire life. I began making horrible sketches of dresses and outfits at the age of seven, but it wasn’t until high school that I knew I wanted a career in the fashion industry. I think what really set it off was The Rachel Zoe Project (thanks Rach!). Before that show, I didn’t know about all of the different options that are available within the industry. I knew that I didn’t want to design, so when I discovered the stylist, as well as editor, creative director and buyer positions, I realized there was a place for me in the world of fashion.

I surround my life with fashion: following bloggers, YouTubers, Instagrammers, and celebrity fashion icons. I am constantly flipping through magazines and watching Project Runway. I just want to absorb and know everything that is fashion. I draw most of my inspiration from minimal stylists like Monica Rose and Instagrammers like @marycake. I find that for the most part I am minimal, but I love too many styles to confine my closet to one aesthetic.

For this outfit, I went minimal (surprise, surprise) but with a glam twist. The nude crop top and white culottes are both from MissGuided, one of my favorite online shopping sites. The heels are Steve Madden, which are no longer available, but I have found a similar pair.

I can’t wait to share with you guys more of my style, and the awesome style I see around my campus every day! Watch out for future posts and don’t forget to give each article a #RAD!
