STYLE GURU BIO: Shanna Merceron

This is my third semester with CollegeFashionista, and I couldn’t be more excited. I feel like a veteran now. I mean, I must seem experienced because I get direct messages on Instagram for fashion advice. I’m the real deal, baby.

I went shopping at the mall today with my best friends, a trip I hate to love and love to hate, and I found myself pointing things out and saying, “This is very in right now,” and “Oh, look at this: very on trend.” I’m cringing as I type this, but this is who I am now. Instead of visions of sugar plums dancing in my head, it’s lipstick and bell sleeves. I can’t help it. The heart wants what it wants.

Styling myself every day doesn’t usually require much thought. I usually start with shoes and work my way up. I know that this seems backwards, but I often get excited to wear a certain pair, or I know that the style of shoe I choose can set the tone for an entire outfit. For this ensemble, I actually started with this wrap skirt I picked up at Primark in London. I wanted to make it edgier, so the choker top and block heels followed.

After spending a summer abroad in fashion hubs like Paris and London, strolling around the campus of the University of Florida is a bit underwhelming. But there are diamonds in every rough, and I can’t wait to find them all. Being a Style Guru is a way of life, and it always brightens my day to have someone ask me about CollegeFashionista or comment on my articles or Instagram. I’m a part of such a wonderful community that brings people together over denim jackets and lattes. I mean, what could be better?

Y’all better prep yourself for another semester of fun and fashion because I’m coming in hot. And by hot I mean that its 100 degrees in Florida, and I’m melting. But I’ll be there, armed with my camera.
