STYLE GURU BIO: Sahana Holla

Greetings, fellow Fashionistas! I am Sahana Holla, and I am a second year Finance student at the Gabelli School of Business at Fordham University, located in New York.

Originally from sunny California, I am so incredibly privileged to be able to say that I really do get the best of both coasts. The drastic change in scenery most definitely brought with it a severe weather change, but I do not regret moving one bit. Although I am not pursuing my passion for fashion at Fordham, I am constantly surrounded and influenced by well-dressed, polished people on the busy streets of New York City. Nothing gets me more pumped than exploring the Big Apple and what it has to offer, specifically its endless amount of inspiration.

I have had a clear love for personal style ever since my mother allowed me to dress myself. I can clearly remember my baggy army pants phase followed by my jelly sandals phase in the fifth grade. Moving on to middle school, my signature look was comprised of layered, neon tank tops and skinny jeans strictly from either Abercrombie Kids or Hollister Co. My worst look, which to this day I loathe most, has to be my “librarian meets secretary” period that would not be complete without my green, corduroy blazer and my burgundy-framed prescription glasses. Now, I can safely and proudly say that my style has evolved to a much more presentable standard.

As stylist Rachel Zoe once said, “Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak.” I am a firm believer that fashion is the true form of personal expression. I always dress how I feel and encourage myself to take risks. So, if you see me wearing all black like a true New Yorker or playing with crazy colors and statement pieces, odds are you’ll know what kind of a mood I am in. Stay tuned to see my endless love for ankle boots and obsession with leather.

The number one step to being fabulous is to be confident in yourself. The words of the timeless Coco Chanel are the truest that have ever been said: “Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman.” There is something about wearing a fresh outfit that makes you feel like you can conquer anything and leave your mark on the world. And, at the end of the day, a little confidence never hurt nobody, right?

With that said, I cannot even begin to explain how eager and honored I am to share with you the upcoming and avant-garde fashion I encounter this summer in California. Go forth and prosper Fashionistas, and let’s go conquer the world together with style!
