STYLE GURU BIO: Paxton Shamlou

Hello, my name is Paxton Shamlou. Currently, I’m a junior at the University of Florida who majors in business administration with a double minor in retail and sustainability. I am very excited to begin my journey with CollegeFashionista this semester!

I love spicy foods, running, NYC, and traveling. I spent this past summer in Madrid enjoying the art, architecture, history, tapas and of course, dancing the night away with friends. Living abroad has given me a different perspective on the retail industry and different fashion aesthetics. I was able to see all the latest trends months before they hit the U.S. Platforms were very popular as well as denim skirts and bomber jackets, and that fun and universally flattering girly shade of pink. I did some shopping in every country I visited and have incorporated those fun looks into my wardrobe.

I believe that fashion is form of art and each individual is free to paint their own canvas. It is a way to express yourself, an illustration of your current mood, and an outlet to tell your story. This is why fashion should always be fun and it is important to adapt any trend to your personality. After all, first impressions are everything!

On certain days, my mood calls for an edgy ripped jeans paired with a graphic floral T-shirt and leather jacket that perfectly captures the duality of my personality. The booties add some sophistication and a little flirtiness.

Trends will come and go. I think it’s very forward to be on the hunt for the latest trend, but I like to stay true to myself and put my own stamp on whatever look I am wearing—that’s the art of fashion. Fashion should make you happy because that’s what it’s all about.
