STYLE GURU BIO: Nikita Benjamin

Hi! My name is Nikita Benjamin and I am currently pursuing a degree in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University. I have been keen on writing since my first year at University and am thrilled to have this opportunity to write about one of my favorite things ever: fashion! I am excited to be working with CollegeFashionista and cannot wait to see what I learn and unravel throughout this journey. I have always been interested in the union between architecture and fashion and am currently preparing my dissertation within this theme.

I have an almost all-black and navy blue wardrobe that I am changing up to include bright colors and prints. I have just started mixing prints and trying different accessories—particularly stacking or layering jewelry. It will be fun to see how my taste and unique style develops over the summer. My year out in London definitely developed my eye to look out for detail and interesting notes on upcoming trends and how they are worn everyday. It has also pushed me to try further than my usual “black on black” look.

I am a huge fan of structured and edgy outfits and accessories. I have a passionate love for shoes, especially heels. Any excuse to wear heels can easily make my day.

I enjoy contemporary art, ’80s rock music and traveling. I love Middle Eastern food and any Calatrava designed bridge.

My icons include Olivia Palermo, Audrey Hepburn, Gia Carangi and Paola Pitagora. I adore the structured style of Azzedine Alaïa and Issey Miyake.
