STYLE GURU BIO: Nicole Nelson

Hey everyone! My name is Nicole Nelson, and I’m thrilled to announce that this will be my first semester as a Style Guru intern! I am currently a freshman studying Journalism at the University of Missouri in hopes of one day pursuing my dream of working for a fashion magazine! I have always wanted to write about style because it is something I love and am very passionate about. As a young girl, I was always experimenting with my style and as I got older, my style changed and became something I could call my own. To me, fashion is a creative outlet and a way that I can express myself.

I am always changing up my look and searching for things to inspire me in photographs, music and the street style of others. You can usually find me scrolling through style blogs or watching style videos on YouTube to catch up on current trends to integrate into my look. My current favorites have been Jenn Im from ClothesEncounters on YouTube and Haley Appell.

As of now, my style is very ‘70s and ’90s-inspired and retro, but I am continuously incorporating classic pieces into my look to add a chic touch. I also enjoy going to thrift shops around town to find cool and unique pieces to make my look stand out. I have recently been loving berets, turtlenecks and leather booties—they are three go-to pieces for my winter style. Even though it is getting a bit cold out I still love to wear dresses, so I do so by pairing them with tights, thigh-high socks or even thigh-high boots to keep me warm.

I am really looking forward to a great first semester here on CollegeFashionista and I hope to inspire you all with my posts! I’m so happy to be part of this style family.

Thanks for reading!
