Hey there Fashionistas/os! My name is Natalie Mendez and I’m a Biology major at Florida International University in Miami, Florida. Although my major has nothing to do with fashion, I’ve always had a passion for fashion! I know, very cliché but it’s true. This is my first semester as a Style Guru and I could not be more excited to get started.
My passion for fashion and beauty started when I was young. Growing up, my mom dressed me in pretty dresses and tons of accessories. Over the years my style has evolved and allowed me to express myself in a creative way. I chose a different career path than the one I was determined to follow when I was younger, a designer.
My question, fashionistas/os is why label your style? Why do we have to limit our styles to being only edgy or chic? I would say I have a mix of three styles: boho-chic, classic & comfy, and glamorous. I like to mix and match pieces in my closet depending on the occasion and the weather outside.
My go to fashion motto is “well dressed and shoe-obsessed” because I have a serious shoe obsession. You can usually find me at the mall with my friends shopping for the latest trends. If you ever lose me in a store, just check the shoe section.
My mixed style is shown with my maxi boho dress from Lucky Brand and a light wash denim jacket, a staple piece in my closet. I paired my outfit with my favorite tan sandals for a chic-boho look. Since I live in sunny South Florida I always have a pair of sunglasses handy.
