STYLE GURU BIO: Melina Ferraro

Hey guys, I’m Melina Ferraro and I will be a sophomore at Moraine Valley Community College in the fall! I transferred to Moraine Valley after my first semester at Saint Xavier University, where I was a Marketing major and Public Relations minor. I came to realize that I would not be happy if I did not follow my dream of working in the fashion industry. So, I went off of the path I was accustomed to and transferred in order for me to be able to attend Columbia College Chicago to study Public Relations and Fashion Business in the fall of 2016.

I began to recognize my true love for the art of style in junior high when I began ripping out images of outfits I admired in issues of Teen Vogue. I would then find items similar to the ones I would see in Teen Vogue and make the looks my own. Besides staying up to date with what was in style, I found a love for classic looks and pieces. Audrey Hepburn had become someone whom I would admire. Her classic, chic and almost whimsical looks designed by Givenchy in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Sabrina and Funny Face will always have an impact in my style.

The look I chose to start off this summer, I believe, best represents my style. I recently have fallen in love with Stuart Weitzman’s The Nudist stiletto because of its classic, yet simple design. I love taking a classic look and mixing it with authentic and unique pieces like this Charlotte Russe romper that holds a ‘70s vibe with its flared sleeves. I then sealed the look with some dainty gold jewelry.

I am beyond excited to be able to take my love for the art of style to the next level and flourish as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this summer!
