STYLE GURU BIO: Meghan Emanuel

Hi Fashionistas/os! My name is Meghan Emanuel, and I am a sophomore economics major at SUNY Geneseo. The year I have spent at Geneseo thus far has been amazing and influential. Although SUNY Geneseo is a rather small school, I run into different senses of style every single day. This has had a tremendous impact on the development of my own personal style. Ever since I was in middle school, I could always be found watching YouTube videos on beauty/fashion, reading fashion magazines or reading online fashion blogs. My mother taught me from a young age that the way you present yourself is an art form. Due to the fact that she was a Clinique employee I was constantly surrounded by beauty and fashion since the day I was born. Once arriving at Geneseo, I was told about CollegeFashionista by one of my sorority sisters. As she explained what she did as a Style Guru I was amazed and knew I had to apply. I am so excited to be writing for you all this summer!

High school can be a really intimidating time period for young girls trying to develop a fashion sense. There is constant judgement and ridicule. When I was in high school I always played it safe and wore what was in style at the time. College has given me the freedom to develop my own personal style and wear things farther out of my comfort zone. My friends always joke with me that I have a piece of clothing for every event they can think of. I find that having versatile pieces are more valuable than statement pieces you can only wear once. The best way to describe my style is Southern prep.

SUNY Geneseo has a reputation for being a great school throughout New York state. I also believe that not only am I at a school with extremely intelligent students but very fashionable young adults as well. Take a quick walk around campus and you will notice all of the amazing and diverse styles. I am personally inspired each day by new outfits I see on people around campus.

I believe the key to success is to dress your best! I am so excited to share my style as well as different styles found across my campus. As Oscar Wilde once said, “You can never be overdressed or over-educated.”
