STYLE GURU BIO: Marisa Yunker

Greetings, fellow fashion lovers. I am a junior at the University of South Florida studying Communication with a concentration in Media and Culture. While I spend many of my months in Tampa, I still return to my home in Ohio. Though I sometimes enjoy the warmer climate that Florida offers, I am still a Midwestern girl at heart, and jackets will never leave my closet.

I have recently changed my major after spending a few semesters as an Advertising student. Though I am still uncertain as to where my new major will lead me, I would like to someday get involved with film or television. Writing is one of my main passions, so to be a screenwriter is my ultimate dream. I spend much of my time watching shows or movies, so don’t tell me about any new ones or I may obsess over them.

Due to this love of the big and small screen, my style inspiration often comes from some of my favorite characters and actresses. Music also has a major influence on my outfit choices. I adore punk and glam-inspired looks in particular.

While I’d like to think that I can emulate the fashion choices of David Bowie in the ‘70s, I will typically wear something a little more casual. Band shirts fill my drawers and closet. However, I also adore comfy dresses with a bit of a nerdy flair. I also love spicing up an outfit with a pair of frilly crew socks. Alas, I also am quite devoted to plaid. I resisted the ‘90s look for so long, but now it has completely infiltrated my life. As for makeup, I am constantly searching for new lipsticks. My friends are often stopping me from buying more, insisting that I own too many already.

I hope that my experience with CollegeFashionista will help me to gain even more style inspiration. I look forward to showcasing the variety of looks present on my lovely campus.
