STYLE GURU BIO: Marina Simardi

Hi Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Marina and I am currently majoring in Journalism. Recently I have also declared two minors, in International Business and Marketing. Even though I had never thought of myself as becoming a writer or reporter, I truly believe I found myself in the field. Writing about what you love is extremely satisfying, because it doesn’t feel like a job but a hobby. I have always been very passionate about fashion and, this passion, came from reading magazines and books about it. This lead me to study journalism, so that one day I could be part of what made me fall in love with fashion in the first place.

I am very excited to start another semester being part of the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru! Even though this isn’t my first time, I am equally as thrilled as I was the first time I joined. Being a Style Guru and being able to write about and share tips on what I love the most is amazing. I love that CollegeFashionista gives students all over the world the opportunity to do this! Since I am home for break, I am very enthusiastic to share a little bit about style in my home country: Brazil. At the same time, I can’t wait to go back to Boston and share a little bit about what the mixture of cultures there has brought to the fashion world. It is like sharing the very best of two very different worlds.

Here in Brazil it is extremely hot right now, however, there are days that it can get a little bit breezy. Even though I love winter more than everything, I have to admit that ripped jeans and very light cardigans hold a very special place in my heart. Due to my platonic love, I decided to create a summer outfit based on these two pieces I adore. I chose to wear jeans because they match with everything, and the ripped aspect of it brings a boho feel to the look. Under my light gray cardigan, I wore a black tank top. To add a little bit of color to my outfit, I matched it with a cheetah print scarf. Since the weather wasn’t really in my favor and I am not the biggest fan of sandals, I decided to wear espadrilles for shoes. This outfit is a great option for those summer days that are a little bit chilly and for casual situations.

I can’t wait to share more with you guys!
