STYLE GURU BIO: Madeleine Schwarz

Hey friends! I am delighted to be here for another rad semester with CollegeFashionista—I can’t wait to share even more tips and trends with you all this summer.

My name’s Madeleine and I am a journalism student originally from the Bay Area, entering my sophomore year at the ever-sunny San Diego State University. Last semester as a Style Guru showed me how intriguing blogging is, only adding to my love for the written word. Throughout my life I have had an immense love for books which has always invoked in me an inspiration to write. I’ve also had a keen eye and a knack for styling for as long as I can remember, making me your go-to-Guru for any and all of your fashion advice needs.

I am constantly influenced by past decades, particularly the ’60s and ’70s. This summer you can find me strolling through Berkeley in my favorite fringe jacket grooving to some Fleetwood Mac and America. I could listen to my “oldies” playlist and imagine a life in a much more far-out time period forever. Bringing back the trends of previous times is the closest thing I have to a time machine, though, which explains my love for all things bohemian and funky. I also adore vintage pieces and go thrifting as often as I can to scavenge for those rare gems that no one else has—finding a new favorite band T-shirt or pair of classic Levi’s provides an immeasurable amount of joy for me.

My go-to pieces this hot season are a flowy maxi for staying comfortable in the California heat, a pair of cool shades for some sun protection and a skinny scarf for a light, versatile accessory.

Here’s to another fantastic semester here at CollegeFashionista, thanks to everyone who continues to follow me on this journey of mine!
