STYLE GURU BIO: Leighann Clayton

Hi everyone! My name is Leighann Clayton and I am a new addition to the CollegeFashionista team as a Style Guru at Kent State University. I am a fashion merchandising major with a minor in marketing. I am a senior member of Alpha Phi and have been for the past four years. I studied in NYC during Spring 2015 and interned at a small Fashion PR firm as well. Working fashion week and experiencing such an amazing city was the best opportunity I could’ve ever asked for. I absolutely fell in love with NYC and cannot wait to move back for the next chapter!

My personal style is contemporary and focuses on subtle tones with black and hints of gold. I love all black, chic looks, but also love effortless feminine silhouettes too. I also love reading blogs in my spare time and issues of Vogue and W magazine. I am obsessed with street fashion and love animals especially puppies. I think the day shouldn’t start without a cup of coffee or even three more. I believe a girl can never have too many pairs of shoes, and the darker the lipstick, the better. Mark Wahlberg and Miiles Teller are my celebrity crushes and I will watch anything they’re in. New emerging trends interest me not only because of my major, but also the influence of fashion around us all and different takes on it. I think it’s more important to support local coffee shops because they’re so cute and quaint on my campus, but I’m guilty of holding a gold card at Starbucks like everyone else. (I drink a lot of coffee) I have actually never flown anywhere and recently have purchased a passport. Traveling the world is a goal for myself and would love to spend a few months in countries I am from, to gain insight and to see their fashion influences. Overall, I’m a woman who loves fashion, and appreciates all different takes and spins on old and new trends. To me, street style is where fashion comes from and I plan on bringing that aspect to CollegeFashionista!

My style advice is to dress in what you find appealing and exciting. I hope you know a little more about me now!
