STYLE GURU BIO: Laquavia Smith

Hi guys, my name is Laquavia, but I prefer anyone who addresses me to call me Qua (like earthQuake lol) I’m a 21-year-old Communication Arts major with a love for writing and an infatuation with personal style and fashion. Growing up, I was my mother’s mini-me and she’s a pretty modish woman. I can remember going into her closet grabbing her velvet turtle necks and Versace belts. Definitely watching her dress gave me a sense of that ’80s/’90s style that I sometimes incorporate into my fantasy. Getting dressed to me would be playing a role, I like to look the part, however I’m feeling or wherever I’m going. There’s always some sort of agenda associated with my ensemble.

I love anything stylish and affordable. My co-worker once told me he loves the way I dress because everyday I take on a different style. I absolutely believe “different” describes my personality, I’m a bunch of things wrapped up into one. I can be nerdy, I can be a “mean girl”, I can be a brat, I’m truly well-rounded with a bunch of feels. The different parts of me definitely show throughout my wardrobe. My closet goes from lace bralettes to oversized denim jackets. my style ranging from boho princess to girl next door. My favorite accessory is my hair, it’s something I’m constantly experimenting with.

My friends find it weird that I love astrology and it is truly one of my weird facets. If I ever met you, I’m pretty sure I’ve asked you, “Hey, what’s your sign?” (Please don’t be weirded out, I do it to everyone!). I am extremely excited to be apart of the Style Guru team here at CollegeFashionista. Fashion, aside from my poetry has always been my way of expressing myself, even though I’m pretty outgoing, I do consider myself an extroverted introvert, social yet at times very reserve.

I would have to say my style inspiration comes from care free, spirited individuals such as Solange, Keke Palmer, Angela Simmons, pretty much anyone who follows their own rules. I like to think I’m like 74 percent stylish, but I’m on the “glo’.” I hope to inspire as I continue to grow on this journey and co-exist with other Fashionistas/os.
