Ciao Fahsionista/os! My name is Kiara Catanzaro and this is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista. I’m excited to write FASHION FROM ABROAD for the first half of my internship from Italy. When I return to the states, I will be contributing to ALL IN THE DETAILS.
This fall, I will be a senior at St. Bonaventure University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Spanish. Along with this, I’ll be starting my Master’s in the Integrated Marketing Communications program.
If I had to choose three words to describe my style, they would be: eclectic, feminine and classic. I am easily inspired by cultures, especially the Italian culture because it’s my heritage. I naturally feel connected to the sophisticated style of Italians. Although I don’t live in Italy (sigh), I look forward to sharing Italian fashion while studying abroad.
Fashion has always been a huge component of my life. I started collecting magazines when I was 13-years-old, which sparked my initial love for it. I loved flipping through pages to see different patterns and colors complement each other perfectly on celebrities. Even seven years ago, my teenage self knew that fashion would be a necessity in her future career. As I got older, I learned that your style shouldn’t solely consist of current trends in the season’s suggested colors; rather, it should enhance your inner beauty and self-confidence. I believe that your day-to-day style should radiate with inner beauty and confidence because it’s all about what you feel good in, not just what looks good on you.
The best way to determine what you feel good in is checking to see how much you find yourself glancing in the mirror after you put an outfit on. Your natural smile glows when you realize that your outfit illustrates your best self. That’s what I hope to convey to all Fashionista/os across the globe—it doesn’t matter what the outfit can bring to you, but what you can bring to the outfit. You can’t bring much without a confident smile and natural beauty.
