STYLE GURU BIO: Kendall Packo

Hello CollegeFashionista! My name is Kendall and this is my first time writing for this site, which I could not be more excited about! I am originally from Akron, Ohio and just finished my first year at Loyola University Chicago as a Public Relations major.

Fashion has always had a soft spot in my heart. I was obsessed with art as a little kid and as I matured, that turned into an obsession with clothing, shoes and everything in between. After living in Chicago for a year, I can definitely say my style has been heavily influenced by street style. Coming from a small city where fashion is not exactly a priority, I was much more comfortable in Chicago stepping out of my comfort zone and taking more risks in how I dress. The vibe of the city has had such a huge impact on how I changed the way I dressed; I put way more effort into how polished I looked, got more comfortable with accessories and overall was just surrounded with a stylish energy. While I am mostly inspired by what is around me, Instagram has such accessibility to look at my favorite stores, celebrities and bloggers. Some of  my favorites are Free People, Topshop, Sophia Amoruso from NASTY GAL and fashion blogger Luanna90.

Anyone that knows me knows that I wear a lot of black, gray and white. By opting for the simplicity and sleekness of these colors with my clothing, I am able to play around with fun shoes and accessories. In this bio post I chose to wear something that demonstrates this—a pair of black high-waisted skinny jeans, a cropped gray tank top and black bootie heels, accompanied with several rings and an awesome blue crystal necklace I found in Wicker Park. While lately my fashion mantra has been, “when in doubt, wear black,” with summer around the corner I just can’t help but be excited about patterns, especially ASOS festival looks, which features tons of mixed prints and fringe.

My goal with these posts is to learn more about trends and establish my own personal style while hopefully inspiring all the other Fashionistas/os out there. I am beyond thrilled to be writing for CollegeFashionista and will be posting every Thursday!
