STYLE GURU BIO: Kelly Rogowski

Hello my fellow Fashionistas/os! My name is Kelly Ann Rogowski. This is my first semester as Style Guru, and I am beyond excited! I am currently a senior at Florida State University studying retail merchandising and product development. I have also been given the amazing opportunity to study abroad in London and Paris with the International Merchandising program this summer!

I was born and raised in Tampa, Florida, which doesn’t necessarily have the largest fashion scene, but somehow I found an interest in it from early on. Now a little anecdote for you all, which if you know me you know I always have a story. While visiting my aunt in New Hampshire at about eight years of age, I accompanied her on a shopping trip in search of something to wear for a wedding she was attending. Let’s just say we were in and out in no time and I had styled her from head to toe…this was after her telling my mother that she didn’t have time to “babysit.” Since then, I knew that I was meant to be in the fashion industry.

In my opinion, shopping the latest trends does not mean wearing the most expensive, high end brands. It means finding pieces that define you and your personal style. Some of my favorite stores to shop at are T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, H&M, and I’m actually currently enjoying Old Navy, just to name a few. These stores allow me to stay within my budget while still keeping up with the current trends!

I am a bargain hunter at heart, and I am known for getting some amazing deals! I love finding unique and quality items on the clearance rack; the satisfaction I get is incomparable to the point where I’m giddy like I’ve fallen in love. At this time in my life (especially on that college student budget), I don’t believe in spending an arm and a leg for garments, especially trendy items that are constantly changing. Even staple items can be found at a much lower price than what it is marked at retail!

I would describe my style as very eclectic. I am inspired by many different decades and fashion styles: from classic to vintage and leather to lace, I gather inspiration from it all. Much of my inspiration stems from Pinterest, Instagram bloggers and fashion magazines like Vogue, InStyle and Harper’s Bazaar. My current obsessions are neck scarves and block heels, as you can see, and you will hardly ever see me in anything that is not high-waisted!

Follow me during my summer while traveling back home and studying abroad! I look forward to sharing my personal style as well as the range of fashions from Tallahassee to Tampa to Europe!
