STYLE GURU BIO: Julia DiFrancesco

I am so excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista family as a Style Guru! When I was younger, I was always so interested in fashion and the world of design. My grandmother was one of the biggest influences for my love of clothing and fashion design. She was a seamstress for many years and always had at least five sewing machines in her basement. When I would go to her house, I would just watch her sew everything imaginable and while she was doing it, she would explain every single step to me and how to do it. Watching that, I got an interest in clothes and picking out my own outfits at a really young age. I took fashion and sewing classes in high school and started sewing pieces for my family, friends and myself.

Now that I’m in college, I’m really into reading fashion and style blogs. Whenever I need a break from studying or homework, I read my favorite blogs: Man Repeller and KERRently by Courtney Kerr. I assure you my parents can definitely say all of my money I earn from my summer job goes to my addiction of clothes and shoes. I’m constantly looking at new trends and ways I can incorporate new things into my style. Living in Philadelphia for three years and going to Temple University has opened my eyes to endless influences in the world of fashion, as well as what I choose to wear when I get up every morning. Even though I’m majoring in neuroscience and hope to eventually become a dentist, my love for fashion is still growing and it’s my biggest hobby.

My biggest icon right now would probably be Rebecca Minkoff. I love the fact that she is evolving in the world of fashion and incorporating science and technology into her runways shows and her clothing line. I’m so excited to embark on this adventure, and I’m so happy I can be a Style Guru for the summer!

I am currently obsessed with my Jeffrey Campbell lace-up booties. Lace-up clothes and shoes are trending right now, and they are so comfy and look cute with every outfit!
