STYLE GURU BIO: Joanna Kim

Hello, Fashionistas! My name is Joanna Kim and I’m a senior at Pennsylvania State University. I’m majoring in international communications with a foreign language minor. Studying in those areas has taught me a lot. It helped me to understand people, help me voice my thoughts and be more open to things that are different from what I’m accustomed to. I’m excited to utilize those skills to share with you the fashion around my campus!

Growing up, I’ve heard that I have an unique style. I was always wearing something different than the others. I would wear t-shirts with dinosaurs on them with bright yellow overall shorts. Lately, I love to wear casual clothes, but I love to incorporate something different with my outfit. I still have to stay true to my unique style, no matter how old I am. I have a bright personality and can probably talk for 24 hours straight, but I ironically love to wear black. Coordinating an outfit around black seems much easier when you only have ten minutes to get to class. However, I’m always up for trying new styles and have been enjoying wearings skirts and knit sweaters this warm winter!

One thing I find important is that we are mindful of others. No matter how different they may be from us, we are still people. Attending a big school helped me appreciate people. There’s so much diversity and different cultures that are all in one area. It’s very interesting to see what different fashion styles people have. Each person wears their different styles and cultures for others to see and I can’t wait to share all of it with you guys!
