STYLE GURU BIO: Jade Simmons

Well isn’t this exciting? Hey there! My name is Jade Simmons, and I am currently a marketing major with a business technology minor at the University of Miami. Originally, I did not begin my studies as a business student. I actually started my college journey on the pre-medicine track. However, I soon realized that my love for fashion had to be incorporated into my future career, so I changed my major and I am super excited about the switch. I know that I am now on the right path to a fun-filled career in fashion, and I cannot wait for it to begin!

Even though my education was initially directed toward becoming a physician, my love for fashion began when I was just a little girl. Drawing in my sketchbook and making clothes for my Barbies were definitely among my favorite things to do. This creative edge stayed with me as I grew older and it blossomed in high school, where I was enrolled in a four-year fashion program. I learned to design and construct my own outfits…a Fashionista’s dream! To top it off, I was able to see my collections come to life on the runway at my school’s annual fashion shows.

I believe fashion should be unique to each individual. So what makes my personal style unique? I would definitely have to say my retro twists on modern outfits. I love to stay chic and current with simplicity and clean lines, but going back in time and incorporating ’60s and ’70s trends is my way of personalizing my outfits. My go-to pieces include mock neck tops, white sneakers, cat eye sunnies and watches. Although, I am totally into the mod look, my new favorite addition to my closet is actually a pair of ripped jeans (trust me, I’ll put a retro spin on them haha). As far as makeup goes, I love sharply winged eyeliner, tear duct highlighting and burgundy lips.

I am delighted to share my style with you this summer as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru. This is a great opportunity in so many ways…plus it gives me a reason to do a little more shopping! I hope my posts are as exciting for you as they are for me.
