STYLE GURU BIO: Hollis Young

Hey Fashionistas/os!  My name is Hollis Young and I am very excited to be a summer Style Guru for the first time. I attend the most beautiful school in Virginia, called James Madison University, where I just finished my freshman year studying health sciences. When I graduate my dream is to work in the health field (preferably in New York City).

While my major is not in fashion or design, it is still one of my passions. I tend to find myself using my free time for online shopping and scrolling through Instagram stalking people to look at their clothing (a little embarrassing, I know). My friends believe fashion and clothing are my “thing,” which I could get lost in for hours and am very passionate about and I agree with them.

My personal style ranges a bit, but most often you can find me in casual clothing of neutral colors. Although the colors I wear are typically gray, black, white or navy blue, this is not indicative of me being a dark person. My bubbly and uplifting attitude make up for the lack of liveliness in the colors I wear. My choice of casual clothing comes from my desire to be comfortable all the time. Luckily, I have found ways to show off my personal style while wearing clothes I can breathe and walk in. No matter what the occasion, I am usually found sporting an article of clothing from Brandy Melville, my all-time favorite designer, as well as from American Eagle Outfitters. Both of these brands sell clothing that is not only very soft and stylish, but affordable, which is perfect for a broke college student such as myself.

In this outfit, I am doing exactly what I say I always do, wearing Brandy Melville and American Eagle Outfitters. I am wearing my staple piece, the turtleneck, and I paired it with some of American Eagle Outfitters’ new high-waisted shorts. Since Virginia weather is unpredictable, I added my favorite oversized cardigan in case I needed a little extra warmth, as well as to break up the all black theme. For shoes, I implemented the newest trend seen on college campuses as well as worn by celebrities: the lace-up sandal. These shoes, while not only very comfortable, add a boho feel to any outfit. In order to keep with the boho-chic feel, yet trying to add an edge to the outfit, I added the wide brim black hat.

I cannot wait for a RAD summer where I will get to share with you some of my favorite fashion finds! If you find yourself in casual, neutral and boho-chic clothing, or wish to start wearing that style, then I am the Style Guru you will want to follow.
