STYLE GURU BIO: Gabriela DiFilippo

Hi everyone, my name is Gabriela DiFilippo! I just finished my freshman year at the University of Delaware where I am a Marketing major. Marketing really interests me because I enjoy watching out for trends and learning about new products especially in the fashion industry. I live in New York and this summer I will be switching off from wearing my camp counselor clothes to my favorite pair of ripped boyfriend jeans. I am really looking forward to traveling to Italy with my family in August. This trip will allow me to explore the culture of fashion as I play around with outfits in a gorgeous setting while the contemporary and edgy aesthetic of Italian fashion influences my own style.

Fashion has been a passion of mine since I was in elementary school. I used to keep a fashion log in fifth grade where I would write down my outfits everyday. One log stated, “ tie-dye sweatshirt, beige leggings, UGGs.” Although my fashion sense has evolved since then, I still keep track of what I wear. I log my outfits because I get excited looking at my past style and I use those outfits to inspire me as I evolve along with the fashion world.

One of my favorite aspects about fashion is how you can tell who a person is based on their outfits. What you wear is another outlet for creativity and I encourage individuality when it comes to interpreting trends for personal style. I hope that my posts allow my readers to take some sort of inspiration from my own ensembles. Whether it’s inspiration from the color of a skirt or the shape of a dress, people can put their own spin on their outfits and incorporate their own individuality.

My individual style is a mixture of basic pieces with a trendy touch. Right now my go-to attire is boyfriend jeans, a loose T-shirt and my beat up Converse, this look is perfect for me in the summer because it is carefree, but still put together and casual. If I could offer my readers one rule that I always follow when it comes to buying clothing it’s to picture the article of clothing being worn with five different outfits. I religiously follow this rule because I believe wearing a piece of clothing in different ways makes outfits versatile while maintaining a budget. If you can’t imagine it, then it can’t be incorporated with your everyday style, it’s simply not worth it. My goal is to inspire my readers with reasonable clothing items with high fashion taste. Tune in every Friday to see where the summer takes my fashion experiences!
