Hello, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! I could not be more excited to be a Style Guru this summer at the University of Missouri in Columbia, also known as Mizzou. I have just completed my sophomore year, and I am majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication and minoring in Textiles and Apparel Management.
I find inspiration everywhere. I love magazines like Harper’s Bazaar, W Magazine, and CR Fashion Book, as well as blogs like The Sartorialist and Man Repeller. Additionally, I like following people like Karlie Kloss and Jeanne Damas on Instagram.
I also enjoy people watching. I have travelled all around the world and have seen many different interpretations of fashion. One of my favorite places I have observed is Berlin. The club kids and skaters there are über stylish.
At the end of this summer, I will be visiting family in Turkey. I have spent many summers there, and there is nothing quite like it. It is there where east meets west. In Turkey you get a little bit of everything. There might be an 800 year-old lookout tower from Ottoman times right next to a set of modern high rises. I’m looking forward to showing off the trendsetters of Columbia, as well as those of my motherland.
Today, I am wearing a white, ribbed crop top, vintage burnt orange silk pants and a great pair of heeled summer sandals from Madewell. To top it all off, I added a pair of round black sunglasses.
I consider myself a minimalist, but I like to mix it up from time to time. Fashion speaks to the person, the place and that moment in time. I can’t wait to not only show off my style, but to show off others’ as well!
