STYLE GURU BIO: Cherileigh Co

Hi Fashionistas/os! It’s nice to meet you. My name is Cherileigh, but feel free to call me Cher. I’m a senior at Ryerson University in Toronto, and I’m studying journalism with a minor in public relations. Wow, I can’t believe it’s my fourth semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. Also, it’s my second semester as an editorial intern for the Editorial Society.

Although winter is my favorite season, I thoroughly fancy summer trends and music festivals. This June, I’m attending one day of Bestival in Toronto, so I can finally see Tame Impala, Odesza and Jamie xx live. Also in July, I’m going to Wayhome Music & Arts Festival to see my favorite musicians: Haim, MØ and Mac Demarco.

Summertime style is free, light and simple. My casual go-to summer look is a band T-shirt tucked into a pair of high-waisted shorts. Then, for a night out at Dance Cave or a concert at Danforth Music Hall, wearing an athleisure dress with a MØ-inspired braid will get me into a stylish formation.

Currently in Toronto, it’s not quite time to bring out the shorts and sandals. So, I balanced my Forever 21 black knee length dress with a Dimepiece varsity jacket from Urban Outfitters because it usually gets chilly as the day goes on. To complete my look, I wore mirrored sunglasses with a classy gold bridge, my trustworthy white Vans and carried my usual black fringed satchel.

Personally, summer is all about reading through my stack of new books, jaw dropping at the latest episode of Game of Thrones and going to as many concerts as I can. Finally, I can almost feel the summer breeze and the ease of lazy beach days. I’m so stoked to showcase all of the chic Torontonians and views from the 6ix. For now, I wish you strength and guidance.
