STYLE GURU BIO: Anna Dalton

Hey CF world!

My name is Anna Dalton and I go to Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. I am so excited to be writing for CollegeFashionista this semester and cannot wait to share some of my life with you all!

I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and have always loved fashion. I distinctly remember this love being first cultivated when I was a little girl. My father and stepmother are both jazz singers in the Uptown Charlotte area, which afforded me many opportunities to be exposed to fashion. I remember seeing glamorous adults dressed up in jewel colored cocktail dresses paired perfectly with chic haircuts and deep lipsticks. I was completely enamored and wanted to be submersed in this world of beauty and creativity. Now I am a twenty-year-old woman and still feel exactly the same way! At Appalachian State, I study apparel design and merchandising and also French. I absolutely love what I am doing.

I would describe my personal style as feminine but with an edge. My favorite color to wear is black, and I am a huge fan of leather. I will never turn down a pair of heeled booties and have the habit of always overdressing, but who cares? The look I am sporting encompasses my style very well; from the black tulle skirt all the way down to the biker booties. Don’t forget about the off-the-shoulder velvet top, too. Two trends in one garment! Woah.

As for my personality, some things I am very passionate about are pasta, Clemson football and yoga. Though all of these things are great (especially pasta), the thing I am most interested in is gender equality and womens’ rights. I am passionate about changing the way women are treated in media, the workplace and in daily life. I wholeheartedly believe that fashion can be used to produce this change and would love to be apart of the movement. To me fashion is bigger than a beautifully styled outfit or the trendiest handbag. It’s about what your outfit is saying—what message it’s conveying. Fashion reflects and simultaneously dictates elements of culture. We can use this as a tool to change the world! How awesome is that?

So, cheers to this semester and the CollegeFashionistas/os across the United States! Let’s see what we can accomplish. I look forward to connecting with you all and hope you enjoy my posts.
