STYLE GURU BIO: Aina Tchoshanova

Hi Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Aina Tchoshanova and this is my first time writing for CollegeFashionista! I am a first year graduate student at Portland State University pursuing my Master’s in business administration. Home of Voodoo Doughnuts and Keeping Portland Weird, this city is full of fashionable individuals that are courageously rocking their styles.

My love for fashion didn’t begin at a young age. I can’t tell you that I was flipping through the pages of Vogue at age five, nor can I tell you that I was obsessed with my Barbie’s outfits. In fact, I’d say up until my mid-20s my fashion choices were in and out of my wardrobe after the first wear. I remember spending most of my paychecks on dresses I was going to wear Friday and Saturday night. The idea of capsule wardrobes or classic timeless pieces never interested me. But as they say with age comes wisdom, and Pinterest and YouTube. What really draws me into fashion is the aesthetic of an outfit. I love the process of coordinating pieces and getting inspired by ideas. Whether it’s styling my own wardrobe or seeing someone rocking their own, I enjoy the visual pleasure that fashion brings.

As far as my style goes, I can’t pin myself down to a category. My style is ruled by many outside factors from the weather to my mood. There are some days where I will wear all-black and some where I want to wear color. I can live in black pants and black booties and I love a classic accessory. I will say that I strive to be minimalistic and classic. Fashion to me is being comfortable and confident, all in one.

I am looking forward to showing you some of the fashion around my campus and being part of the CollegeFashionista Style Guru team!
