STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Vintage Floral

Florals for spring? Big surprise here, but not this time around. This Fashionista recommends thrift shopping for vintage to mix it up. She bought this dress for seven dollars, which is quite a bargain if you ask me. Your empty wallet at the end of the semester may cry a little less, by selling back clothes to your nearest consignment store, where you can also purchase new items. This Fashionista’s thrifty find is a staple piece to have in your wardrobe and is extremely versatile. If it’s chilly outside, you can always throw an open knit sweater over and let the dress appear as a skirt.

This Fashionista’s outfit is great for transitioning from spring into summer. She is wearing a beautiful floral midi dress, a braided brown belt and brown buckle booties. I think using a belt with this dress is a great idea, and it really emphasizes the waistline. The top of this dress is very interesting, because of the pleating that adds texture to the look. The midi dress is currently a popular trend and it can be rocked different ways at different places. For instance, you can wear this look at a summer wedding, during class or just hanging out with friends.

Thrifting for clothes is a great way to shake up your wardrobe for the summer. Also, it’s cost effective. Although it may seem like a daunting task, you are sure to find great pieces if you keep rummaging through the racks and piles of clothing.
