STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Summer Shorts

August 19th, 2015 at 2:00am

The weather in eastern Washington is entirely different from what we have been experiencing over on the west side all summer long. The sun is much hotter and the air is even drier. Having just returned to Washington State University for the new fall semester, some may find that dressing for these particular conditions can be a bit more challenging than anticipated. This week’s Fashionista still managed to sport a perfectly darling outfit amidst the miserable heat.

Staying cool and comfortable is key on these very hot days. In place of some thick and hot denim shorts, she chose to wear a pair of light and flowy Aztec-print shorts instead. This style of bottoms have increased in popularity this summer seeing as how the fabric does not cling to the body or add anymore unnecessary heat. Sweat is inevitable, but one can still remain comfortable in this style of shorts regardless. They come in many different styles, fabrics and patterns and can be dressed up or down depending on the specific occasion. These particular shorts also have an adorable tasseled drawstring waist, making it so they fit nearly any body type.

Paired along with her cute shorts, she is wearing a light burgundy flowy camisole tank top, a black lace bralette and a pair of classic white lace-up Converse. Her shirt adds a pop of color to her outfit while still holding enough shape to go along perfectly with her shorts. Showing off the black bralette beneath her top keeps the outfit trendy while allowing her to stay cool and cute at the same time.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “On these hot days you should definitely aim for comfort as your main goal. A cute pair of shorts or a nice shirt is all you really need.”
