STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Living in Layers

Studying abroad has its perks for sure, one of them being the chance to experience a different climate than you would back home. Normally at this time of year I am still soaking up beach days and relishing in the occasional drop in temperature in the sunshine state. Living in London has allowed me to experience the beauty of the seasons a little more than I would in Florida. Embracing this cooler weather means one thing and one thing only: layers. It’s all about the layers this autumn season, and this Fashionista knows it. She has figured out how to master style while also being practical and comfortable, and isn’t that what we all strive for?

The central piece of her outfit is undoubtedly the pop of color in her red coat, which she was delighted to tell me she had just found at a lovely market for a bargain price. I love unexpected steals! She chose not to distract too much from the red by keeping it simple otherwise. Her simple scarf, tank and pants allow the jacket to stand out while also keeping her cozy. Another thing to take note of is the versatility of the coat. It has a fur lining along the collar to keep the cold out along the neck and also a hood that zips in and out of the back to keep the rain away from those gorgeous blonde locks.

So you want to know what my style advice of the week is? Find that balance of self expression and comfort. Looking fabulous and following trends does not have to mean neglect of comfort and practicality. Both can be achieved, as this Fashionista effortlessly shows the world.
