Style Advice of the Week

It’s no secret that college is often stressful, challenging and demanding. With all of the essays to write and exams to study for, it can be pretty easy to forget to have a little fun once in a while. My favorite way to spice up my day when I have an intense class schedule is by wearing something fun and playful. Since dressing up for early classes can be a chore, I always rely on my diverse collection of graphic T-shirts to keep my outfits festive and upbeat.

While I know that graphic T-shirts aren’t a new trend since everyone has been wearing them since they were little kids, this school year has brought me a newfound obsession with them. I especially love wearing them on Fridays; there’s nothing that gets me in the mood for the weekend quite like a T-shirt with a sassy slogan or eccentric pattern. I live for these tops in all colors, prints, shapes and sizes; a college student can never own too many.

Urban Outfitters undoubtedly has the best selection of T-shirts for a reasonable price. No matter what type you’re looking for—fitted, oversized, worn out or unique—they’re sure to have something for every taste. My secret is to do my shopping in the men’s section because I’ve always preferred my tops to be relatively oversized. Not only that, but they offer a better variety that suit my interests. I get particularly excited over the ones with music legends on them. Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Notorious B.I.G. are my personal favorites. They are perfect to wear to concerts with distressed denim, a leather jacket and sky high wedges.

This Fashionista looks adorable showing off how to demonstrate this trend in a laid back, bohemian way. She styles her metallic-accented graphic T-shirt underneath a super comfy sweater, which is perfect for this gloomy winter weather. Her leggings, black fringe boots and stylish Louis Vuitton bag make this an easy look to wear to class or to grab coffee.

If I wanted to take this look up a notch, I’d pair an edgy printed T-shirt with high-waisted denim shorts. Since it can get pretty chilly outside, I’ve become obsessed with wearing fun black tights underneath shorts and pairing it with my go-to combat boots. If I’m feeling extra grungy, I’ll also throw on an oversized flannel or a military-inspired cargo jacket.

On the other hand, graphic T-shirts can also be made girly by pairing them with a flirty skater skirt and adding a couple of bracelets. Whether grungy, girly or bohemian, the point is that graphic T-shirts are extremely diverse and can work in a million different ways. There’s no better piece to have in your wardrobe that will help you mix up your look any day of the week!
