STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keeping It Simple

Style Advice of the Week

Whenever I ask a guy about style, he always replies that he doesn’t want to come off like he is trying to look stylish or fashionable yet he usually does. Some Fashionistos prefer the effortless look when it comes to their everyday wear. Instead of matching their pants and shirts or wearing stylish scarves, they keep their look simple, much like the Fashionisto featured today.

This Fashionisto put together a simple yet noticeable look for a long day of classes; replicating his outfit is easily done. Start with a pair of classic tan chinos; these are a must-have in any Fashionisto’s closet and, despite what some guys might argue, they are incredibly comfortable. Chinos always make an outfit look crisp, especially in men’s fashion. When wearing them, make sure they aren’t dragging on the ground but fall just above the heel. Next, this Fashionisto paired a patterned crewneck sweater with his chinos to keep the look from seeming boring. Patterned sweaters are a great item for Fashionistos because they spice up a look and can add a touch of humor to an outfit — especially during winter, which is basically ugly sweater season for Fashionistos at Wisconsin. However, most of us street style lovers don’t think they are ugly at all but actually fashionable and fun to wear.

Finally, throw on a pair of boat shoes to complete the look. Sperry Top-Sider’s has a variety of boat shoes that Fashionistas/os sport for their long walks around campus. It doesn’t seem like there is much to replicating this Fashionisto’s street style because it is simple, uncomplicated and, like I said before, noticeable. Fashionistos take note: Sometimes less is more.
