STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Just A Touch Of Plaid

Who said you can’t wear plaid in the summertime? Apparently this Fashionista did not get that memo. Plaid has been seen in clothing stores all year round and it is no longer associated with the lumberjack look. Plaid has been seen on dresses, coats scarfs pants just to name a few. This trend has been around for a while, so I doubt this trend will ever go out of style.

This outfit is perfect for shopping, eating out, hanging with friends and more. It is simple, but edgy at the same time. This Fashionista explained to me her style is more punk rock mixed with preppy. I asked this Fashionista why did she choose to wear plaid this particular day which she responded by saying she felt her outfit was missing something and decided to add this plaid shirt to make her outfit more stylish.

Keep in mind, when incorporating plaid into your outfit, you do not want to overdo it. This Fashionista’s outfit is a prime example as she kept her look simple while letting the plaid stand out. She wore a black crop top under a plaid shirt, along with some bermuda shorts and paired it with a baseball cap. Last, she opt for some comfortable black and white Vans sneakers to walk around the big VCU campus.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you do not usually wear plaid or prints in your outfit, you should give it a try. Try figuring out what type of plaid items will go good with your outfit.”
