STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Grunge

March 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

From chokers, plaid, studs, Converse and chunky boots, the ’90s is a decade that has definitely made one of the most popular comebacks. Grunge style comes from the rock music genre. Its fashion is associated with distressed clothing such as ripped jeans, dark colors, flannels and band shirts. Although this style is commonly known for its miry demeanor, this Fashionista knows how to immaculately pull off her outfit.

This Fashionista makes this outfit unique by layering a denim jacket with a plaid flannel underneath. Her black jeans, “the 1975” graphic T-shirt and boots all coincide with the grunge feel. She even ties in the grunge style by wearing her favorite band shirt. Her black round sunglasses add a touch of ’70s flare. Her flannel is the main element in this outfit, as red is the central dominating color. She keeps this look together by perfectly matching everything and staying true to the grunge style.

Her outfit is ideal for the winter as the layers keep her warm. Her boots and thick socks help to shield against the harsh winter wind. You might even want to add a tank top under your shirt. You can still be warm while wearing your favorite style!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always match, never clash. My style is girly-urban so I like to incorporate both looks into most of my outfits. For example, I will wear a black skater skirt, black tights, black boots, a deep maroon shirt and pair it with a floral jacket to add a hint of feminine touch.”
