STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fall Forward

As of September 21st, fall is officially here! Excuse me while I’ll be off somewhere prepping myself for the pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters and Halloween shenanigans. With all the festivities and fun that fall brings, I can’t help but want to hold onto the last bits of summer 2016. When I saw this Fashionista, I made sure to snap some shots of her because who says it can’t be summer all the time?

This SoCal Fashionista gave this look at our school’s annual Fall Fest. With music and free food on a warm September day, this was the perfect look to wear while mingling and dancing away until the crowds dispersed and the smell of pizza started to linger.

For starters, the string overalls laced with the pastel crop top underneath is a confident, yet modest style. Overalls have been growing in popularity for over a year alongside other ’90s trends such as mom jeans and large-rimmed glasses, so much so that we’re living through an episode of Full House. Just think, the clothes we wore as toddlers and children are now coming back to be ironically cool and stylish!

This Fashionista perfectly used the pastel tank to complement the denim overalls. To sharpen the look she added a fringe shoulder purse that rightfully gets attention while not taking too much away from the outfit as a whole. This look screams Urban Outfitters festival and I absolutely adore it. Don’t be fooled that winter is coming, the sunglasses tucked into the denim gives the look an accessory that can go with almost anything.

From many of the Fashionistas I’ve seen around campus (or maybe it’s just my school), Sperrys are still riding the wave of popularity here on the East Coast. Back at it again with the Seacoast Canvas Sneakers, the Sperry legacy lives on.

As for my style advice for the week, don’t be afraid to mix and match. The beauty of fashion is most of the time to look put together it is best to appear thrown together. Sometimes the best beauty looks aren’t ensembles, but pieces from all sorts of eras, seasons and trends to make it modern and chic!
