STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dressing for Florida’s “Winter”

While the rest of the nation is enjoying a chilling winter bundled in chunky scarves, puffy parkas, and snow boots, Floridians are experiencing another “swinter” (summer plus winter). We usually wake up to a chilly start with a temperature daring to drop as low as 60°F (which is apparently sweater and boots weather for us sunbathed Floridians) and by the time 10 a.m. rolls around it’s 85 degrees. Our state is unpredictable, which is why this Fashionista knows all the secrets to surviving the highs and the lows, in style.

In this look, our Fashionista is rocking an olive green midi dress paired with a beige draped cardigan. She accessorized with simple gold jewelry, tortoise shell sunglasses, tan open toed booties, and a magenta tote bag for a pop of color!

Our Fashionista knows that the best trick to battling Florida’s weather is layering.

She wore this particular outfit for a night out on the town. Whether she’s bar-hopping with friends or sitting down for dinner, layering is what makes the look so chic and functional. If she gets too hot while dancing the night away, she can whip her cardigan right off. And if she gets too chilly while having a bite to eat at one of Florida’s many outdoor restaurants, she can simply slide her cardigan back on.

Versatility is key when it comes to fashion so she sported chunky heeled booties to make walking around town or dancing easier. The large tote bag adds a refreshing pop of color to the neutral outfit while also carrying all of our Fashionista’s essentials. And of course, you can never forget the most important accessory while strolling around in Florida. These tortoise shell sunglasses finish off the look with classic sass.

So next time you’re visiting the sunshine state, don’t forget to layer up and rock your shades!
